An In-Depth Review on Google Pixel 9 Pro

Google Pixel has introduced a new model of the flagship range in Bangladesh, Google Pixel 9 Pro. The phone immediately caused a lot of furore in the markets for its design and the specifications it came equipped with. Design & Build Quality

For 2024, Google is doing away with the bezel on its entire Pixel 9 series, as Apple has been doing with iPhones for years. Coupled with the rounded corners, the Pixel 9 Pro is quite understandable to hold even for long periods of time. GOOGLE has brought a new look to the camera bar. Instead of running all the way to the edge of the phone, it now resembles a capsule-shaped structure like the camera island. It is clear that this design is better than the previous one. Despite being as unique as the camera bar, it looks a lot less cluttered.

At the back, we find a matte-finished glass, while the aluminum frame has been polished to shine, giving this Pixel 9 Pro a premium and luxurious look. The buttons are soft touch buttons and give a satisfying click feel when pressed. As for the sound and the new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, I must say that both are good. Also, The Pixel 9 Pro has an ingress protection, IP68 rating, which means it is protected from dust and can be submerged in water. It includes Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which makes it crack even the toughest surfaces.

Display

The Pixel 9 Pro has an OLED screen like the base model Pixel 9 is 6.3-inches. However, it is a Super Actua LTPO OLED panel with 1280 x 2856 density at 495 PPI with variable 1-120 Hz refresh rate. It is 600 nits typical and 2,000 nits high for HDR content and up to 3,000 nits bright, so the screen is quite valid in the open sky. The screen is also designed with a uniform thin bezel.

As on default the Pixel 9 Pro runs on a slightly lower “high resolution” of 960 by 2142 anyway to get better battery backup. The Super Actua display is pretty detailed. Text and images are clear and everything has enjoyable bright colors, but no really high contrast. Whites are pure and blacks are deep. Ensuring smooth scrolling, text appears crisp and instant when the text scrolling feature is turned on.

Performance & Software

Pixel 9 Pro has solid performance due to the Tensor G4 chip and 12GB of RAM, which for the first time, the company introduced in the Pixel line. Google’s Tensor chips were problematic at first, the G3 was better and the G4 seems to be good thus far no problems such as overheating like its previous models. There is no issue in opening different applications and games, when opening many applications at once, taking lots of pictures or gaming and in other uses.

Another strange thing about this year’s Pixel 9 line is that it comes with Android 14 not with Android 15 which was expected initially. Pixel is usually the first to get an update but this is the first time Pixel is being launched without the newest Android version. But, the Pixel 9 Pro does come with fresh new software and artificial intelligence features incorporated into the device.

Pixel 9 series is Pixel branded and comes with an exclusive weather application called Pixel Weather. It has a well aesthetic design that has dynamic backgrounds and has put mant features of weather information in the interface. Pixel Weather also comprises AI that can provide a one-sentence weather description; more information can be observed if needed.

Cameras

The devices include the Google Pixel 9 Pro that offers triple rear camera with 50 MP primary camera, 48 MP ultra wide and 48 MP telephoto camera. On the front side, there is a 42 megapixel front facing camera. The rear cameras are the same as last year’s Pixel 8 Pro but the front-facing camera has advanced from the previous 10.5-megapixel camera.

The 48-megapixel ultrawide camera has a wider field of view of 123-degrees than the preceding 12-megapixel ultra wide lens. This enables taking more of a scene in each picture as compared to the traditional models. It also helps to get the better quality of color and detail. It is also possible to get fairly good macro shots with the ultrawide camera.

The new 48-megapixel telephoto lens is doing what it is supposed to do. 5x optical zoom with the Super Steady and Super Res Zoom mode going up to 30x. Sample pictures were average good but some of the images which were at higher zoom had slightly noise and grain while taking pictures of the black colored objects. It may also be interesting to know if this is possible at the range beyond 5x optical, more tests have to be conducted in this regard.

The skin tones help in the making of selfies together with adequate detail coupled with well-Proxies colors. Autofocus appeared this year, which is good news. The front camera on the Pro models has a greater field of view of 103 degrees opposed to 95 degrees on the normal Pixel 9.

Battery & Charging

A 4,700mAh battery is provided inside for the Pixel 9 Pro. Previous Pixel phones released in the market were released with long lasting batteries. Unlike most devices today, Google doesn't include a power adapter but they do include a USB-C cable. The Pixel 9 Pro XL on the other hand gets a 37W charging, while the regular Pixel 9 Pro gets 27W charging. This results in about 55% charge in the next half hour and a little over 60 minutes for a full charge.

For wireless charging, the Pixel 9 Pro takes up to 21W with the second-generation Google Pixel Stand or 12W with a Qi-certified wireless charger. There is also support for reverse wireless charging. But it hasn't decided to add Qi2 support this year to Google.
