The Apple Watch X may feature a thinner and redesigned band mechanism than before. Current Apple Watches take up too much space, which could be used for larger batteries or other components. This is why Apple's redesigned watch may feature a new magnetic band connectivity system.

The first Apple Watch was launched in 2015. Since then, the company comes out with a new model almost every year. As Apple's September event draws closer, speculation is mounting. Apple Watch Series 9 and the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra are likely to be launched alongside the iPhone 15 series at that event. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claims that the next-generation Apple Watches will receive minor updates. In the meantime, again, Apple is working on another 'Watch X', which will probably be brought to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch.

The rumors about the Apple Watch Series X suggest some big changes are coming in 2024. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the Watch X will get its biggest overhaul yet.  One change is making the case thinner. This sounds good but raises concerns about performance and battery life taking a hit. But Gurman says Apple may minimize the impact by changing how the watch bands connect. Using a magnetic system could free up space inside for thinner cases without affecting internals.

Of course, Apple hasn't announced the Watch X yet. We'll have to wait for the real details. Gurman's sources seem credible though since the Ultra 3 is rumored to have a smaller digital crown. It's also said the bezels could be thinner for bigger screens without bulking up the watch. Gurman confirmed both Series 10 models will get larger displays in a recent newsletter too.

Gurman also mentioned a new S10 Chip for Apple X. Reports say it likely won't run Apple Intelligence though, which is reserved for iPhones, iPads and Macs for now. There's still time before Apple's September event for more leaks and rumors to spread. We'll provide updates as we learn more.
