The Samsung Galaxy M series continues to be one of the most popular lineups in Bangladesh, delivering signature Samsung experiences at competitive price points. This lineup also serves as an accessible entry point for consumers seeking to engage with Samsung's ecosystem of products and services. The Samsung Galaxy M55 is the latest addition to the series, introducing several firsts for the portfolio.
Specifications are also respectable, including a flagship-range Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a sizable 5,000mAh battery for all-day power, a triple rear camera system with a 50MP main sensor for versatile photography, and a high resolution 50MP front camera. In this review we will share the Samsung Galaxy M55 price in Bangladesh and all specification full details.
An In-Depth Review on Samsung Galaxy M55
Samsung has launched a new smartphone model Samsung Galaxy M55. This article will provide the key features and specifications of the Samsung Galaxy M55 as well as pricing information for the Bangladesh market. Highlights of the device include processor, RAM, storage, display with camera.
Design & Build Quality
The Samsung Galaxy M55 offers a slim form factor measuring just 7.8mm thick. This slim profile provides a comfortable in-hand feel and ease of handling. The phone is slimmer than last year's Galaxy M54 model and also lighter at 180g. The Galaxy M55 features a plastic frame with a plastic rear panel. Unlike other flagship Samsung phones, it does not have a raised "key island" housing for the volume and power buttons.
It has rounded corners and tapered sides. Despite using plastic rather than metal or glass, the phone does not feel cheaply made. On the top left corner of the rear panel are three distinct rings for the triple camera system, with the LED flash separately placed to the side. The protruding camera rings cause the phone to slightly wobble when placed face down on a surface.
The front of the Galaxy M55 has uniform left and right bezels with a slightly thicker chin area. A punch-hole cutout is centered atop the display for the front camera. The screen is covered by Dragontrail glass rather than more durable Gorilla Glass, which is disappointing given the phone's price point. The Galaxy M55 also lacks an IP rating, meaning it has no specialized protection against dust or water damage.
The volume and power buttons are on the right side of the phone. The SIM card tray is on the left side. Other ports and features include a microphone at the top, USB Type-C port and additional microphone and speaker at the bottom.
Display
This phone has a 6.7 inch display with a resolution of 1080x2340 and a pixel density of around 384 PPI. Not too bad! The screen gets super bright thanks to its 1000 nit maximum brightness. Color reproduction looks good too. As an extra layer of protection, it uses Dragontrail glass instead of regular old Gorilla Glass like some other Samsung phones.
Where this phone really shines is its 120Hz refresh rate. Everything from swiping around the OS to gaming feels super smooth. Just like other recent Samsung devices, it also has an eye comfort filter that reduces blue light output. And of course, you've got dark mode support for night time usage.
The potential downside is it lacks some advanced screen technologies like DC dimming or an anti-flicker mode at low brightness. That said, I didn't notice any issues with flickering when dimming the screen. It does miss out on an always-on notification LED, but thankfully there is always-on display functionality to check notifications at a glance.
Performance & Software
The new Samsung Galaxy M55 everyday tasks like messaging, browsing the web, and streaming videos, it handles everything smoothly. Most people will appreciate that Samsung opted for a Snapdragon chip instead of their own Exynos chip. While the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 isn't new, it's actually more powerful than the Exynos 1380 chip in the Samsung Galaxy M54. You likely won't notice a huge difference during normal use, but the Snapdragon handles demanding tasks and saves battery better.
The galaxy M55 runs Android 14's One UI 6.1 out of the box. It comes with some preinstalled apps and lock screen ads, but otherwise the software is clean. Even better, Samsung promises 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches - way more than most phones at this price that only get 2 years of support.
It has all the features you'd expect like Always On Display, one-handed mode, Quick Share, Live Caption for videos, Kids Mode, screen recording, and linking to Windows. You get most of what's new in One UI 6.1 except Samsung DeX or their AI features.
Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy M55 has three rear cameras, but really only two that are worth using. There's a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide. It also has a 2-megapixel macro unit. The camera app is super easy to use with tons of modes including a Pro mode. You can even get full 50-megapixel resolution shots in Photo mode. All the major modes and settings are right there on the viewfinder for quick access.
The main 50-megapixel camera on the device is capable of capturing photos with nice details and accurate colors in daylight scenarios thanks to good dynamic range. While the main camera can still produce detailed photos in low-light environments if using Night mode, standard photos lack details in such conditions otherwise.
This device does not have a dedicated zoom camera. It does offer 2x digital zoom capability. Photos taken during the day with this zoom are adequate but low light nighttime shots are of poor quality. Overall, the camera system performs best when there are high levels of natural lighting. The front camera for self portraits is comparable - good results in daylight but low light selfies require significant ambient light.
Moving to video, the Galaxy M55 5G can shoot max 4K 30fps with the main rear camera. It has OIS but I found the stabilization just okay. Video quality is good in daylight with enough details, but the white balance and dynamic range aren't great. In low light, the videos are barely usable with lots of noise and artifacts.
Battery & Charging
The Samsung Galaxy M55 features a 5,000 mAh battery capable of providing all-day battery life under typical usage conditions. Those who heavily utilize the device can expect battery levels to deplete in under one day of use.
Notably, Samsung opted not to include a charger with the Galaxy M55. However, the phone is compatible with 45W fast charging technology, marking the first time this level of charging power has been available in this product segment. A 5A charging cable is included. When paired with a 45W charger (sold separately), the Galaxy M55's battery can be charged from empty to full in approximately one hour and 15 minutes. Half charge is achieved in around 35 minutes. While these charging times represent an improvement over many competitors, some rival devices are even quicker to recharge.
